Meeting report

The Chairperson, Ms L Botha (ANC), welcomed members of the Committee and expressed apologies on behalf of Ms P Makeleni (ANC) for her absence. She added that the agenda had been amended.

Finalisation and adoption of the Committee Report on the Annual Report of the Department of Health

The Committee proceeded to read through the Committee Report on the Annual Report of the Department of Health.

Ms D Gopie (ANC) proposed the adoption thereof and Mr D Mitchell (DA) seconded the proposal.

The Report was finalised and adopted.

The Chairperson advised the Committee’s coordinator to file the minutes from various meetings regarding the Committee’s Report on the Annual Report of the Department of Health as one document.

Consideration and adoption of minutes relating to meetings on the Annual Report of the Department of Health

The Committee went on to consider the minutes of 26 October, 9 November and 23 November.

Mr Mitchell remarked that he had not been present on 26 October, and that Mr Pretorious stood in for him. Mr Mackenzie was also present at that meeting.

The Coordinator said she would amend the apologies in the minutes accordingly.

Ms Gopie proposed the adoption of the minutes and Mr Mitchell seconded.

The Chairperson moved on to the minutes of 9 November.

Ms M Wenger (DA) remarked that no resolutions were taken, no information requested, as the meeting was not concluded. Members were asked to write down solutions or proposals that would be presented at the end of that meeting.

The Chairperson said that the minutes should stipulate what Ms Wenger said.

Ms Wenger proposed adoption of the minutes and Ms Wenger seconded.

The Chairperson proceeded to the minutes of 23 November, which Ms Wenger and Mr Mitchell approved.

Ms M Gillion (ANC) was late to the meeting and was welcomed.

Mr Mitchell noted an editorial amendment to the minutes.

Ms Wenger added that the resolution of the Committee on the budget was missing from the minutes.

The Chairperson asked the coordinator to insert this.

Ms Wenger proposed the adoption of the minutes and Mr Mitchell seconded.

Regarding the Annual Report of the Department of Health, the Chairperson reverted to the meeting of 31 October: the Briefing by the Department of Health with an NCOP member present.

Ms Gopie proposed the adoption of the minutes and Ms Wenger seconded.

Ms Gopie and Mr Mitchell approved and seconded the minutes of the meeting held on 13 November.

Ms Wenger and Ms Gopie proposed and seconded the minutes of the meeting held on 20 November.

The Chairperson said she would sign off on those minutes.

The Chairperson told the Coordinator that, in the previous minutes it should be stipulated that the conclusions it terms of resolutions would be pertained in the last set of minutes, although it was discussed in three different meetings.
