The Chairperson was running late for the meeting, but informed the Committee Secretary, Mr Peter-Paul Mbele to allow Members to through the oversight Reports in preparation of the meeting.

Upon the Chairperson’s arrival, she welcomed everyone present at the meeting and asked Members whether they had gone through the oversight Reports.

Consideration of the Oversight visit Report to North West
The Chairperson tabled the document for consideration and the Committee went thought it page by page.

Mr S Tleane (ANC) pointed out that under 5.4 (Mphebatho Cultural Museum), when Members interacted with community Members, they were informed that there were allegations of corruption that were made against the Local Chief regarding the misappropriation of funds. Members were informed that a protest was looming in respect to the allegations because of the conflict between people and the Chief was suspended because people were not happy with the investments that were made. People were not being paid until the conflict was resolved.

He wondered whether this matter could be featured in the Report.

The Chairperson replied that this could be included could be featured.

Mr P Atkinson (DA) noted that the Sun City Airport mater was missing from the report. The development of the airport was halted due to land claims impacting the run way of the airport. This matter needed to be mentioned in the Report; perhaps as a recommendation because the airport would have a major contribution on tourism in the province and at Sun City.

The Chairperson welcomed the inputs, and suggested that as a recommendation, the Committee may add a recommendation which speaks to the alleged corruption in the Mphebatho Cultural Museum. This would be assist the Sixth Parliament Committee, and perhaps follow up on the matter.

The Committee Secretary effected the changes as suggested.
