Report of the Standing Committee on Finance on Budget Vote 8: National Treasury

The Committee went through the report.

The Chairperson started with the observations and recommendations of the report.

When discussing point 6.2, the Chairperson inquired whether the Committee had received the programme from the Treasury with regards to all the Bills that the Committee will be seeing to in the future.

Mr W Wessels (FF+) said that they did not receive the programme and that this must be addressed with the PLO.

The Chairperson had requested more clarity and information regarding the Public Procurement Bill from Treasury.

It was brought to the Chairperson’s attention in point 6.7 of the report, that discusses Operation Vulindlela, that it is important to add that the Deputy Minister will lead the process of this operation and that this operation should be brought forward to the Committee separately.

On point 6.9 of the report, the Chairperson said that the Committee needs to obtain the briefing from the Treasury on gender-based violence with specific reference to the funding.

On point 6.12 of the report, it was added that there is a need to indicate that the Department needs to push Nedlac to speed up the process of hosting the financial sector summit.

On point 6.13 of the report, there was a request for a report in the next quarter with respect to progress made with Nedlac and the pension fund reforms.

The report was adopted.

The meeting was adjourned.
