Summary
All parties present supported the Bill without amendment.

Minutes
The Chairperson invited members to raise any problems that they had with the Bill

Ms E Gouws (DA) said that her party was concerned with the meaning of the temporary absence for the purposes of a holiday. She asked if a person who was absent from the Republic on holiday, but performed holiday work, would be entitled to vote.

The Chairperson said that South Africans with valid identity documents and who had registered, would be eligible to vote.

Dr P Nel (NNP) said that his party supported the Bill.

The Chairperson read the Motion of the Desirability of the Bill and members agreed that the Bill was desirable. The Bill was passed unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned.
