About Annelie Lotriet

Dr Lotriet was born in Johannesburg. She completed her post-secondary education at Rand Afrikaans University where she graduated with a BA degree in Languages. She continued her studies and completed a Doctorate degree in Education specializing in higher education. Before making her entrance into South African politics she worked in academia and lectured at both Vista University and the University of the Free State. In 2000 she was appointed as a ward councilor for the DA in Mangaung and served on number of provincial and national committees, boards and associations and previously served as the DA Shadow Minister of Higher Education. In August 2022 she was elected as DA's Deputy Chief Whip.
