Mr Gelderblom has served on various parliamentary committees for the ANC. He was elected as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Community Safety & Economic Affairs. From 2001 to 2004 he served as an MEC for Agriculture and Tourism, and Environmental Affairs. In 2004 he was appointed as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA), and as the Chairperson on Social Development and Heath from 2007 to 2009. Mr Gelderblom completed his tertiary education at the University of Stellenbosch where he obtained a BA Honours degree in 1975. He has served as a Member of Parliament on the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
