Prior to her current post Ms Mabedla was a trade unionist, served as a shop steward for NEHAWU from 1996 to 2003, and has been a Local Secretary for COSATU in 2004. Her other positions included working as an Election Officer in 1994, Treasurer of the ANC Joe GQabi Branch and was elected as the Deputy Chairperson for the same Branch in 2005.
