Ms Yako first became a Member of Parliament in 2018, and then remained for the 6th Parliament after the 2019 National Elections. Prior to that she was a PR Councillor, representing the EFF in Nelson Mandela Bay. She has served as the Chair of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee, and she has participated in the Portfolio Committee of Mineral Resources.
