Dear Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries,

As you maybe aware that urban migration and influx of immigrants from the other parts of the world has given rise to a new set of challenges to black townships. Townships have evolved into semi-rural communities with increase in informal settlement and multitudes of small scale farming operations.

We would like to get your assistance in establish and urban farming bank that will assist micro and small scale farmers to get a wide range of support service for their farming initiatives. We have developed a model that are willing to come and share with the committee at you next meeting.

This proposal is based on countless effort to get assistance from established agencies like DBSA NEF and Private banks. Most of our project are deemed to be too small for financing and hence we are always left unaided. We believe that funding policies of this country has not been adapted to align with the changed socio-economic conditions.

As much as we understand limitations that you may have in terms of taking this project to its logical conclusion. Your interest i engaging all these institutions will go a long way in getting the beneficiaries of land expropriation ready to farm and trained.

We will need to establish a wholesale primary agriculture financing programme that is supported by technical and training support from public and private institutions.

Regards
