Dear Portfolio Committee On Transport,

I'm a young and energetic individual who has a passion for Road Safety. Over the last 6 years I worked within the Road Transportation Industry, I have occupied junior to senior positions within different Transportation Company's. One of the biggest challenges that I enjoyed overcoming, was that of risk and control measures. I have seen the huge benefit of monitoring and evaluation, which relates to driver hours, driver coaching, speeding and positive reinforcement.

We are facing a massive problem in South Africa with more than 33 people dying daily on our roads. Im making an appeal to the committee. Can government force impose laws and regulations, that will force companies to comply?. Such as ensuring vehicles are road worthy, driver hours, and coaching?. I believe we have to start from somewhere, lets get the private sector on board then hopefully the public will follow suit.

The last comment I would like to make is, what are the platforms that are available to the public that would like to make an meaningful contribution towards Road Safety? .
