Dear Portfolio Committee On Transport,

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

On December 4, 2020, I had money stolen from me while being driven in a wheelchair by Swissport employee No. 40186 from the domestic to the international airport of OR Tambo Airport (JNB). I had asked for the wheelchair due to heavy back pain and my wife and I were on our way back to Switzerland to get urgent medical surgery.

The theft must have happened while going through security. There my Swissport assistant asked me to put all my electronics in the plastic tray for screening. On top he demanded that I include my wallet. After boarding our plane, I noticed that most of my bank notes were missing. The stolen money amounts to about ZAR 3'400 (ZAR 700 plus CHF 200).

In 2006, we built a holiday home at Fancourt in George and have spent most of the summer seasons there since. We are employing gardeners and a maid and provide them with a regular income. We also organized and contributed to charity events to collect money for disadvantaged children in our neighbourhood.

We are very disappointed that these things happen in such a beautiful country.

Yours sincerely

Dr. Adrian Niggli
