Dear Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation,


Communicare (NPC) not for gain,is the largest Social Housing Agency in South Africa with over 3300 Social Housing Rental Stock and undisclosed land in their portfolio.

Communicare Tenant Beneficiaries request the following to be brought before the Portfolio Committee

1/ When will the Covid-19 Rent Relief Fund be paid to Beneficiaries?

2/ Communicare Tenant Beneficiaries are currently facing hardships as Communicare the landlord are currently imposing these sanctions

3/ Illegal evictions without court orders during Covid-19 Lockdown

4/ Pending evictions before the courts, including Pensioners

5/ Rent interdicts that will attach the furniture of Tenants to pay for their arrear rent, including Pensioners

6/ High water tariffs whereby Pensioners have to go without runinig water in their homes as they cannot afford to pay the high water tariffs charged by Communicare

7/ The Communicare Tenant Beneficiaries are requesting to be paid directly as the rent relief fund will be abused by Communicare to sustain the exorbitant salary of Communicare's CEO and to cover their mismanaged overhead expenses.

8/ Communicare could not offer the Tenant Beneficiaries with meaningful rent relief during the Covid-19 Pandemic, as Tenants were required to pay back their rent
resulting in the Tenants being in debt with arrear rent

9!/That a 12 month Moratorium be placed on all evictions
