Dear Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration, Performance Monitoring & Evaluation,

CorruptionWatch notes that in 2020 an investigation was conducted into allegations of nepotism in the hiring process at the Public Service Commission that led to the appointment of the Chief Director: Professional Ethics.

We are writing to enquire as to whether the recommendations emerging from the finalized investigation have been implemented. We request that the following be ascertained:

Is Ms B Mogwe still receiving a salary from the Public Service Commission? If so, (a) why and (b) what amount is she receiving?

Given that the mandated role of the Public Service Commission includes conducting investigative research and providing advice on complaints, grievances, labour relations practices and policies, it is imperative that the PSC's own hiring practices are conducted in a procedurally correct and ethical manner.

In the interests of effective and efficient performance within the Public Service, it is important to ensure that the recommendations that emerged from the investigation are in fact implemented. We therefore request that the portfolio committee follows up on this matter.

Many thanks
