Dear Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans,I'm a Sergeant in the SANDF was working at DOD SCHOOL of Catering in Thaba Tshwane.In 2017 I had a challenge my wife got ill.I address the matter with my Officer Commanding then (Col Thandi Mokgele)on the 6th of March 2017.She adviced me to write a statement so that she approved and be detatched at Army Support Base PE.Indeed I wrote it only to find out it was disapproved.
I had to take from my annual leave to attend my sick wife.It was later approved I recieved a message from the HR that I need to provide a fax number were I should recieve my statements after it was approved in my unit to take it to ASB PE for the Commanding Officer's approval.Indeed it was sent I took it to ASB and it was approved (I do have proof).Because it was now approved and I was on leave I cancelled my leave on the 22nd May 2017.For me to go back to work because I want to do preps for up coming course because I was working as an Instructor.I sppke to the Officer Commanding at ASB PE through the Hospitality manage in the unit Capt Unathi Gxashe who came back of a report that I can go ahead by working in the unit.That was on the 5th June 2017.I worked till the 12th when I was called in by the Officer Commanding (Col Phakathi).Who told me to vacate the unit because I was working there with out an authority and to live what ever I was having that belong to the unit be the keys or unit ID anything.Indeed I did.I was never given a chance to explain my self.On the 14th of July after i saw that my salary was not in I called my unit back in Thaba Tshwane to find out why was I not paid but I was working and I was published on the roll call book and on the part one and part two order signed by the Officer Commanding that said he was not aware about my presence in the Unit i.e Col Phakathi.My HR couldn't give me answers and adviced me to speak with the Officer Commanding Col Thandi Mokgele.Indeed I called her she told me that I was already discharged and my matter was with LEGSATO.I must not bother to come back and she does not speak to ill discipline soldiers and drop the phone.I tried to follow the legal route but my lawyers failed me.I took the matter to the Ombud but was told they don't deal with administrative discharge and adviced me to write a letter to the office of the Chief of SANDF which I did and had never recieved any answers.I wrote to the General Officer Commanding Log Support Formation to investigate the matter I never recieved any answers.I to the office of the President and to this committee to please follow up on this case because now it is on the 4th year and no court can carry on with this case because hence it is over 3years.I wrote to you to look on it and tell me if I was wrong by cancelling my leave and want to catchup with my work.I want the committee to tell me if I was wrong by taking care of my wife,1year old and a 5 years old children.I want the committee to tell am I that bad to do good for my family.
Today I am struggling and cannot support my 5 kids because I made a mistake of loving my job more than them now I'm paying.
