Dear Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture,

Attention: Minister Nathi Mthethwa

Cc Premier of Limpopo

Ccc: MEC Sports arts and culture Limpopo.

25 September 2021

We are writting to the Honourable Minister on behalf of the youth of Moutse with very high hopes of getting a positive response.Obviously being a rural area and having been hugely disadvantaged in the past and at present, the youth of this humble poor community have defied the odds and never allowed their circumstances to determine their future prospects.
We are talking here about a community with no recreational facilities,no libraries and the one means of passing time for most of them is alcohol consumption which is fuelled by the large number of taverns/shebeens/pubs in the area. But despite all these the youth have shown resilience and a positive attitude and made ise of the little that is at their disposal to make a positive impact not only in the area but the rest of the country and indeed the world.

A few examples of the achievements of Moutse youths are the world famous Ndlovu choir which competed in America's got talent, the netball team from Moroathebe primary school which went overseas to showcase their talent against their international peers,Dennilton Callies Fc which is campaigning in the ABC Motsepe league. These are but a few of the talents that we have in the area, unfortunately with no support from the government it will all go to waste.Dennilton Callies has no trainning facilities and despite them being a local team from Elandsdoorn they play their home games in Groblersdal at a rugby stadium.

We learned that the Minister recently donated some sports equipment to a community in Mpumalanga and we ask that the same gesture be extended to our youth in Moutse.Sports and recreational facilities are a neccessary intervention if we are to save our youth from the scourge of alcohol and encourage them to do something positive with their lives.

We have previously written to the sports MEC and MEC Public Work in Limpopo with regard to fixing the delapidated O. R Tambo stadium but we got no response despite a pledge made by Premier Stan Mathabatha during his 2019 Mbizo to the area that he will prioritise the fixing of that stadium.

We will welcome any sort of assistance from the office of the minister in this regard, and thanking you in advance for your positive response and cooperation.
