Dear Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development,

I’m Solomon Khumalo; one of the students recruited through the Pharmacist Assistant learnership program in 2012 . To cut the long story short, during our induction we were to that the department of health was going to absorb us during or after the two years program. Other sub-district like Klerksdorp, venterdorp & potchestroom did hire they students permanently but the Maquassi Hill district (WOLMARANSSTAD) failed to do so. I just want to know is it fair for DOH to recruit students; train them , then let them go & advertise similar learnership for new recruits year after year with hiring. The four group is about to start the second part of the course whereas the first, second & third group are at home “ unemployed “ . Can someone please assist us on why the skill the DOH said it needs is sitting at home ? . Your help would be greatly appreciated.
