Dear Select Committee on Transport, Public Service and Administration, Public Works and Infrastructure, one is concerned about the regulatory role supposed to be played by CIDB. As a contractor, I have experienced lack of taking actions against registered contractors who transgress the code of conduct . Also the time it takes to investigate some of these transgressions and reaching a determination works against the objectives of trying to curb/address some of these challenges/problems . The penalties (if any) , are not punitive given the impact and the scale of disruption caused by these transgressions towards the development and transformation of the built environment sector. I wish a platform can be created to highlight some of these lapses to act on the side of CIDB and challenges experienced by aspirant Contractors as existing legislations that are in place currently seem not be worth the paper written on, as CIDB is failing (in my opinion) to implement them in invoking applicable legislations to regulate, transform and develop the Built Environment industry.
