Dear Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,

We are the Ra-Tshomankana royal family of Bakgatla Ba Kgafela in Moruleng, Moses Kotane Municipality. In consultation with the office of the Premier of North West, we have elected and coronated one of us to fill the position of senior traditional leader of Bakgatla Ba Kgafela, which has been vacant since the the deposition of Kgosi Nyalala Pilane, who was acting as regent on our behalf.

Without any disputes, lawsuits or interdicts whatsoever, not from the Premier, or any member of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela tribe in Moruleng, the announcement and coronation of Kgosigadi Kaekoa Pilane-Motshegwe took place peacefully, on 19 February 2022.

Therefore, the reason why we are appealing to the NCOP to intervene on our behalf is that the office of the Premier does not respond to our request for the issuance of a certificate of recognition for Kgosigadi Kaekoa, yet in a letter dated 4 December 2021, the office had initially promised that our matter was being referred to the executive council of North West House of Traditional Leaders "for processing and advisory to the Premier".

Kind Regards

Ramerafe Nkele (On behalf of the Royal Family of Bakgatla Ba Kgafela in Moruleng)
