Dear Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies, I write to you as a concerned citizen towards the shortlist of the 37 names of candidates. It is of serious concern that as we listen to the caliber of candidates shortlisted the answers are not substantiated and direct to the questions posed to most of the candidates, the backgrounds of some candidate candidates are not inline with the terms of reference. Let us realize that each portfolio needs appropriate background, knowledge and skill sets, it does not convince us that because a person is learned in their area of specialty they will be instrumental in saving the SABC. Compliance is critical however there must be a mixture as we look at the legal people as critical skill to apply their thoughts towards governance and compliance. The industry has produced powerful skill sets over the years but those individuals fade away and we do not capitalize in them to address the status quo. Example, award winning media specialists are overlooked and not selected yet very basic colleagues from the legal fraternity gets nominated...that brings a question to the panel responsible for shortlisting. The political landscape should be diluted with subject matter expects to assist with conducting proper shortlisting of candidates, this is in the interest of all citizens taking part. These positions are extremely important for us as concerned and participating citizens thus it requires some serious scrutiny, robust engagements this will allow us to eliminate the frustration we have as a country, we must start working toward globalism..120 candidates are not too many to thoroughly assess all to make sure we robustly interrogate. We are sitting with too many crisis in the countries economy not because we do not have appropriate standards and skilled people but name dropping and who you know including known surnames alignment has been in the forefront of implementing standards, it is clear that it’s an easy process to speak and sell yourself yet implementation is not for sissies....I could write a book but would like some acknowledgement to my concerns thus far. Perhaps a suggestion to allow the candidates some confidence on why they didn’t make it...Regards Emingard Motau former board member WRDA chairing HR and REMCO and Finance and Audit Committee deputy Chair, previously appointed by Mr Boyce Maneli the former Executive Mayor WRDM

Still advocating for Mr Benedict Motau whom I am aware he was nominated with years and wealth of experience the the media fraternity ex SABC changer and an award winner with Max du Preeze and the likes of Archbishop Desmond Tutu to name a few achievements???
