Dear Portfolio Committee on Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment,
I am a resident in Kraalroad De Deur in Midvaal. For the past 11 years we have been complaining about a noxious use heavy Industrial company operating on the R82, 105 Vereening Jhb Main Rd De Deur.

Till now Midvaal has ignored our plea and David Chomboko keeps telling us this company is allowed there and all is above board.

However according to the De Deur Node and the Provincial Ordinance as well as health regulations this is not only not allowed but illegal.

The noise this company generates is unbearable. An last night the were operating to 7 o clock. My home is 300M away from them. There is a Psychiatric home in Malherbe rd, also around 300M away, a public Primary scool, De Deur Primary around a kilometer aeay and houses right next to this comoany.
There is currently 4 Diesel grabbers in operation as well as a crusher. The noise and Diesel fumes are invasive and noxious. We can't bare it anymore. No petition, objection, meetings with the owner Dave Smit and pointing out that it's illegal for Noxious companies to operate next to houses and public places has helped this far and it seems like Midvaal doesn't care.

Twice this year we've had to call out the firebrigade to our out massive toxic fires. The last of which black fumes were billowing everywhere and the fires were higher then their walls.

The mountain scrap metal protruding over their wall can be seen for kilometers from the R82. A glaring and unsightly mess, we as residents have to look at every day.

This has been an ongoing complaint and the fact that Noxious use are not allowed in Business 1 and right next to residential homes and zones areas should have had this company closed long ago. But yet they are still opetating. The noise today was absolutely terrible. And I have to add that Midvaal was eager and prepared to accept a noise assessment CSC has done (obviously working as quiet as amouse while being assessed) but will not do an impartial noise, assesment themselves. The noise can be heard even in Thornton road. Now how can that be acceptable by any standards.

Please, we can't handle this anymore and we've been through all the channels, even the Mayor Peter Teixeira, and still our plea falls on deaf ears.

Please assist

Kind Regards

Jacqueline de Freitas
