Dear Portfolio Committee on Police, I am an employee of the SAPS under the Division: Protection and Security Services in the Free State. I am here to inform you that in May 2023, it will be the 3rd years with the Provincial office operating without an office. About 80% of the Division personnel has been told to be at home and this has been happening for the past three because management claims that the house that is being utilized as an office is too small to accommodate us all. The members have been getting paid for doing absolutely nothing, what is even worse is that you also have police Act members forming part of those who haven't been to work for almost three years now. I would appreciate it if the committee could have a look into this matter and a whole lot of other issues would be evident such as the misuse of monies because the same members who are sitting at home, they only come to work when they are going to claim for overtime. The need for more police officers to be in the street is well documented but here in the Free State we have police officers sitting at home and getting paid each month for doing nothing. I hope you will respond to this matter as quickly as possible because it deserves your undivided attention.
