Dear Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services,

I hope that you are well.

I am looking for advise on a prisoner that is currently in the Western Cape area

I need to speak with someone urgently regarding a inmate in Goodwood prison
They are moving him across country today and I would like to know which criteria is being used for these type of transfers,

I have not missed one visit since he was sentenced in February, I am not here to speak about any other prisoner but his sentence is not long. And I know that a lot of people do not keep contact with their loved ones but I do and its important for me to be able to see him every chance I get.
Why are prisoners with longer sentences not being moved out?
I would also like to know why are they moving him from Capetown to the Eastern Cape?
I am not going to be able to travel that far for visitation, not even to talk about the expense of it all to go that side, Petrol, Accommodation and food?

How is it possible that they do not take the families inconsideration.

Two weeks ago CMC called him in for a work opportunity either shop assistance or to work in the area where they cook the food for the wardens (Menasie-Mes).
and now all of the sudden he is being moved.

I was told that the Regional office in the Cape area are the people that make these decisions.

We as the family should be informed in this case I was not, the prisoner was also not allowed to go against this decision.

Looking forward in hearing from you
