Hon Deputy Speaker and hon members, Cape Town is fondly known as the Mother City and necessarily our most common first port of entry to Cape Town should remind us of a mother who dedicated her life to the freedom of South Africa and that person is Winifred Nomzamo Madikizela- Mandela. As resilient as the fynbos that is indigenous to the Cape, so must our memory be in remembering the role Mama Winnie played as a leader, as a woman, as a mother and as a freedom fighter in tearing down the racial curtain that plagued South Africa for centuries.
