The Chairperson said that all Members agree that this is a very emotional and sensitive subject. This is not the first time they are dealing with CSE and teenage pregnancy. We all are raising children and there is no formula that guides parents on how to raise children.

The Chairperson apologised for the fact that the report on the Continuing Programme on Teacher Development (CPTD) had been submitted only the night before the meeting. As a consequence, the Committee's researchers had had inadequate time to engage with it, hence it was not included among the meeting's presentations.

The Chairperson greeted Members of the Committee and acknowledged that it was 1 June which is youth month. She highlighted that the meeting was the last for the term and urged Members to take care of themselves as the third wave of COVID-19 has already hit the country.
DBE 2020/21 Quarter 3 performance

The Chairperson thanked DBE for their lengthy, yet informative presentation. She commended DBE for successfully holding the School Governing Body (SGB) national elections amidst a pandemic, with few negative aspects in the process. She also applauded the exceptional performance of project managers, which was 89%.
