Yunus Ismail Carrim

About Yunus Ismail Carrim

Mr Carrim holds a Master's in Sociology from the University of Warwick in England and an International Diploma in Journalism from Darlington College of Technology in England.

He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Natal Indian Congress, a member of the Executive Council of the United Democratic Front in Pietermaritzburg, and a Secretary of the Pietermaritzburg Combined Ratepayers and Residents Association from 1986 to 1990. He was a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Mr Carrim also served as Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (2009 to 2013) and Minister of Communications (2013 to 2014) (Source: ANC)

Mr Carrim was Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance during the Fifth Parliament (2014-2019).
