UIF backpay & rectify payment

Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,

Trust you are well. I require assistance with my back pay of my UIF application from the date I applied which was last year July 2020. I also require the correct UIF payment to be made.

My employment contract expired due to the pandemic and I dropped my documents mid July month at the Department of Labour Cape Town branch as well as registered online on the 30 July 2020. (Case no: 30004857349).

I have been liaising with numerous personnel within the Department of Labour over a period of 5 - 6 months. I have submitted all my documents and have resubmitted the documents to different personell over time. It's the same story over and over again. My ex colleagues who applied after me have received their payments already.

I am currently in arrears with everything as to current school fees, rent, new school fees etc. This has become quite urgent and yet the personell at Department of Labour has no sense of urgency and has a no care attitude. I have a lengthy trail of everyone I spoke to, some adding snide remarks as to ' No Manager will contact me'. This says alot that there are no consequences for such behavior and service.

I received my first UIF payment of R1026.12 in my account on the 22 January 2021 since my application in July 2020. A second payment of R1 812.80 was paid by UIF on the 25 January 2021 which in total I received R2 800 more or less.

On the 23 February 2021 I received a payment of R1026.12.
What will my monthly UIF payments be? Also, when will the arrears be paid? Can I get a statement of how my UIF payments are being calculated? In all my previous permanent jobs I have always earned between a good salary so I am not sure how the payments are being calculated. I have been contributing to the UIF for years and pay my taxes timeously therefore I require the same service and proactiveness as I do have when these deductions come off my salary timeously and promptly.

I require your assistance with the payment of my correct back pay as well as my monthly UIF payments. I have been in arrears with payments as the UIF delayed the process so long...for months and when I was finally paid something recently, I am being paid the bare minimum for following up on the process. They paying me a minimum amount of R1026.12 that a person cannot live on at all.

I need your urgent attention on this.

Thanks,
Ms G. Frantz
