Mhlonishwa Sekela Somlomo, when we look at the results of the national matric supplementary exams held earlier this year, the IFP is extremely disappointed with the failure of our education system. The overall pass rate of 19,1% is shocking, to say the least. Mpumalanga achieved 11,9%, KwaZulu-Natal 19,2%, Free State 10%, Western Cape 26,2% and Gauteng was the top scorer in our country with only 31,5%.
Our education system is quite clearly failing the youth of this country and we therefore urge the Minister of Basic Education to take immediate action in identifying, addressing and rectifying all the factors that have contributed to this most appalling state of affairs. Our failure in this regard robs our children of a better future. I thank you.
