Deputy Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that in December 2009 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming 12 August as International Youth Day;
2) further notes that, in line with the theme for the International Year of Youth, the theme for this year's International Youth Day is "Dialogue and Mutual Understanding", and the choice of this theme reflects the General Assembly's appreciation of the value of dialogue among youth from different cultures as well as among different generations;
3) recognises that International Youth Day will be celebrated at United Nations headquarters in New York with the global launch event of the International Year of Youth which will be a celebration of young peoples' energy, imagination and initiatives and will recognise their crucial contributions to enhancing peace and development; and
4) further recognises that International Youth Day is an opportunity to demonstrate the government's commitment to the youth.
Agreed to.
