Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that President Jacob Zuma on Friday launched Child Protection Week, which will focus on the protection of children during the 2010 Fifa World Cup;
2) further notes that Child Protection Week, which runs from 24 to 30 May 2010, was introduced by the Government with an aim to raise awareness, educate and mobilise communities to put children first;
3) believes that Child Protection Week will act as a reminder to parents and caregivers of their responsibility to protect children and notes that special attention has been drawn to the possible dangers, such as child trafficking, during the World Cup, as child trafficking has unfortunately become part of huge international sporting events; and
4) urges communities to use the launch as an important reminder to protect the country's children and to ensure their safety during the World Cup and beyond and further urges members of the House to do their part to assist the Police in keeping the children safe: Together we can do more!
Agreed to.
