Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the Council -
1) notes with utter contempt the robbery of a pension paypoint of about R1,5 million by a gang of 15 armed robbers at Ndwedwe, about 50 kilometres from Durban in KwaZulu-Natal;
2) further notes that six of the robbers were shot dead in a shootout with police and that a large portion of the money was recovered;
3) takes this opportunity to condemn in the harshest possible terms the increasing targeting of pension paypoints by vicious and brutal criminals who leave pensioners emotionally traumatised; and
4) congratulates the police for their swift and determined effort to track down these heartless criminals.
Motion agreed to in accordance with section 65 of the Constitution.
