Hon Speaker, we welcome the statement by the member of the DA regarding the Minister's statement on allowing doctors to train at public hospitals. However, I do not agree with the member that that is an ad hoc intervention.
Therefore, the call for a comprehensive health plan is misplaced, because there already is a 10-point plan from the Department of Health that is currently being implemented which encompasses the improvement of primary health care. Amongst other things, there is the hospital revitalisation plan that steps up the building of infrastructure in health facilities in preparation for the implementation of the National Health Insurance system that will extend universal health care to all South Africans.
