Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that Friday, 10 September 2010, marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan;
2) further notes that during this day, Muslims across the globe wish each other "Eid-ul-Fitr'' and families, friends and relatives get together to build a feeling of unity among one another and spread happiness all round; 3) believes that Muslims in this country have made a great contribution to the defeat of apartheid, colonialism and to the creation and sustenance of our democracy and that the holy month of Ramadan afforded them a unique opportunity to strengthen bonds of friendship and family ties among themselves and with their fellow South Africans;
4) remembers that the religion of Islam preaches, among other things, respect for humanity and encourages peace and justice; and
5) extends its best wishes to all Muslims in our country and around the world.
Agreed to.
