Deputy Chairperson, on behalf of the DA I hereby move without notice:
That the Council -
1) acknowledges that Schabir Shaik walked out of the Westville Prison gates a free man yesterday after two assault allegations during the past two weeks;
2) notes that the Director of Public Prosecutions will make a decision on the merits of the prosecution of Mr Shaik, who allegedly assaulted a journalist on a golf course in Durban; and
3) acknowledges that the parole board will consider his parole conditions based on the outcome of this investigation.
Is there any objection to the motion?
