Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes the appointment of Botswana's former President Festus Mogae as a panel member of the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria;
2) further notes that he, together with the former American health and human services secretary, Michael O Leavitt, will lead an independent and thorough review of the fund's financial safeguards;
3) acknowledges that he was the recipient of the 2008 Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership in recognition of his record of good governance as president of Botswana from 1998 to 2008;
4) recognises his leadership qualities that have put Botswana at number 33 amongst 178 countries and at the top of the list in sub-Saharan Africa with a score of 5,8 in 2010;
5) further recognises that Botswana continues to be the example to the rest of Africa in combating corruption, having ranked 23rd in 1998 with a score of 6,1 and still ranking above 5 to date; and
6) congratulates former President Festus Mogae for this great achievement and his admirable commitment to fighting corruption. Agreed to.
