Deputy Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the Council -
1) notes that the Duvha Power Station outside Witbank, Mpumalanga suffered a massive explosion that caused R3 billion damage and severely compromised South Africa's supply of electricity;
2) further notes that the 9 February explosion, which happened during a routine check, is reportedly due to a lack of personnel or human error; and
3) calls on the Minister of Energy to ensure that this incident is investigated in order to ensure that incidents of this nature do not happen again.
