Madam Deputy Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that 20 December is regarded as the International Human Solidarity Day and was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 2005 as an initiative in the fight against poverty;
2) believes that Human Solidarity Day is a day to celebrate our unity in diversity;
3) further believes that this day should compel us to debate ways to promote solidarity for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals including poverty eradication as well as raise public awareness of the importance of solidarity; and
4) encourages South Africans to stand together and unite in the fight against poverty.
Agreed to.
