Hon Speaker, hon Deputy President, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that on 19 December 1994 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 16 September the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date in 1987 on which the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed;
2) further notes that this day marks the signing of the Montreal Protocol, in which the member states recognise their obligations to take appropriate measures to protect human health and the environment against adverse effects resulting or likely to result from human activities which modify or are likely to modify the ozone layer;
3) recognises that worldwide emissions of certain substances can significantly deplete and otherwise modify the ozone layer in a manner that is likely to result in adverse effects of human health and the environment;
4) believes that all of us have a responsibility in respect of combating the effect of climate change; and
5) calls upon developed and developing countries to set targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as part of our responsibility.
Agreed to.
