Mr Speaker, we must stop and think about the human lives that are currently being affected by ANC's failure to create employment.
I ask you to listen carefully to the plight of Bethuela Matlau, a 20-year- old advanced IT diploma graduate from Limpopo province. Bethuela is unable to enter the job market because he has not been issued a diploma from the FET college at which he studied so hard. The college would not issue him his completed diploma because he has no money to pay his outstanding tuition fees. He has no money to pay off his education fees because he cannot get a job.
All Bethuela wants is a job, to take care of himself and his family. He knows he has the abilities, qualifications and skills to hold a job, but is forced to sit at home in a state of depression, not knowing when and how he will be able to get a job so that he can get his diploma, which will then allow him to get another job.
Frankly, this man is caught in a horrific web of financial insecurity from which he cannot escape and which has stripped him of his right to security at the most basic level. I thank you, hon Speaker. [Applause.]
