The AGSA has a constitutional mandate and as the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of South Africa, promises to strengthen the country's democracy by enabling oversight, accountability and governance in the public sector through auditing, thereby building public confidence. The AGSA commits to 5 predetermined measurable objectives in the 2012/13 financial year to discharge its constitutional mandate as a Supreme Audit Institution of the country. These predetermined objectives also centre on the realisation of clean audit outcomes to support the 2014 clean audit initiative for National, Provincial and Local Government.
