Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that International Women's Day is held annually on March 8 to celebrate women's achievements throughout history and across nations and is also known as the United Nations Day for Women's Rights and International Peace;
2) believes that to secure peace, social progress and the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms require the active participation, equality and development of women; thus acknowledging the role and contribution of women in strengthening international peace and security and development initiatives; and
3) calls upon Government, organisations and women's groups to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future, while not forgetting the inequalities that still need to be addressed.
Agreed to.
