Hon Speaker, for over two years we have been waiting for the Jozini Dam project to proceed. Funds for this project have long since been approved and allocated, but as yet nothing has been done.
In this country, we are currently going through a period in which there is a shortage of drinkable water, with our people having to walk long distances to obtain this resource. The people of Jozini and surrounding areas are being prejudiced for the reason that the department is not competent.
The IFP demands that the Minister makes a statement on this matter and advises this House on what she intends to do to ensure that this project proceeds as a matter of the most extreme urgency. The Jozini Dam shouldn't provide the people of Nongoma with water when the people of Umkhanyakude are suffering. Hon Minister, there is no water, nothing! Thank you. [Interjections.] [Laughter.]
