Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that on Sunday, 2 June 2013, Claude Moshiywa became the first South African in 21 years to win the Comrades Marathon "up run" from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, claiming victory in the 88th running of the world famous ultra-marathon;
2) further notes that Moshiywa completed the race in 5 hours, 32 minutes and 8 seconds, well clear of the second athlete, Jonas Buud, who came home in second place in 5 hours, 41 minutes and 20 seconds;
3) recalls that Moshiywa, who came third in 2011 and ninth last year, took the lead from countryman Johannes Kekana after four hours on the road, and never looked back in the warm KwaZulu-Natal conditions;
4) further recalls that Lesotho's Mpesela Ntlosoeu completed the top three, with former champion Ludwick Mamabolo coming home in fourth place; and
5) congratulates Claude on his achievements and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
Agreed to.
