Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) welcomes the recent report by Mr Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) on successes recorded in the fight against HIV/Aids, showing that Aids related deaths in South Africa had significantly dropped over the past 3 years;
2) notes that the report which reviews the Political Declaration on HIV/Aids as adopted by the General Assembly in 2011 indicates that among key interventions in South Africa was the early diagnosis of tuberculosis followed by proper treatment;
3) recalls that the UN Secretary-General further indicated that in 2011 South Africa had 100 000 fewer deaths than in 2005 due to measures such as massive voluntary counselling and testing campaigns; and
4) commends the Government and people of South Africa on the successes recorded in the fight against HIV/Aids.
Agreed to.
