Mr Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
(1) notes that every year, on 21 March, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO celebrates World Poetry Day;
(2) further notes that the main objective of this action is to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities;
(3) believes that poetry contributes to creative diversity by questioning anew our use of words and things and our modes of perception and understanding of the world;
(4) acknowledges that World Poetry Day is an invitation to reflect on the power of language and the full development of each person's creative abilities; and
(5) encourages all to take an active part in celebrating World Poetry Day at both local and national levels.
Agreed to.
