Hon Speaker, I wish to thank the hon member of the ANC for sharing with the House her observations on Mamre's regaining of land. For those who don't know, Mamre is a rural part of the City of Cape Town. We drew into this project the city and the province and they are actually on board. We are working together, but we are leading the process because this is such a large piece of land that we are talking about here.
Our next step is the development of the land, and the work is already on course between us, the community, the city and the province. I am sure the members of the DA are happy to hear that the city is on board on this.
However, we need to emphasise the point that this development is not going to be complete, because the city still has to make a part of the land in Mamre available for housing and the city has to provide the bulk infrastructure for that. Therefore that is a test that we're facing as a partnership. On our part, we are on board to ensure that this community enjoys what has been brought back to it.
