Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that the month of October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in South Africa;
2) further notes that this reflects a nationwide drive by public and private healthcare structures to raise awareness of this debilitating disease across all races and class structures;
3) acknowledges that according to the South African National Cancer Registry, 1 in 29 women in South Africa will be diagnosed with breast cancer, which, like other types of cancers, is treatable when detected early;
4) believes that this awareness campaign will empower South African women with knowledge, thus allowing them to make educated decisions about their health; and
5) calls on all South Africans to support this campaign and continuously detect the possibility of the disease early through self-examination.
Hon members, please reduce the noise level in the House. Hon member, please proceed.
I am done.
You are done? Thank you very much.
Agreed to.
