Ms Wenger was born in Yugoslavia but moved with her parents to South Africa in 1968. She completed her high school education in Beaufort West. She spent a short-time doing nursing work at Groote Schuur Hospital after finishing matric and eventually embarked on a career in banking in 1972. After she got married in 1979, Ms Wenger became a stakeholder in her husband’s business and later became the Director of the company. She has been actively involved in community development and received the Paul Harris award from Rotary International, the Leadership and Communications award from the Rainbow Toastmasters Club and the DA’s Star Performer Award in 2007. Before being elected to Parliament, Ms Wenger was appointed as the Executive Mayor of the Midvaal Local Municipality in Gauteng. She joined the DA in 2001 and served as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs. Source: DA (http://www.da.org.za)
