Whether her department has undertaken or commissioned any multi-dimensional and independent research to ascertain to what extent the implementation of the Genetically Modified Organisms Act, Act 15 of 1997 (GMO Act), had led to (a) genetically modified seeds floating into neighbouring fields and potentially contaminating traditional crops, (b) a year-on-year increase in the use of chemicals like Roundup Ready, (c) traditional farmers being held liable for unwarranted costs as a result of neigbouring farms unwittingly contaminating their crops, (d) agriculture-friendly insects being decimated and (e) the viability of any previously thriving crops in any given area that are being compromised; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details in each case?
