Mr N J van den Berg (DA) to ask the Minister of Communications:
(1) (a) How is the tariff structure of Sentech determined and (b) what
aspects are taken into consideration when determining the tariffs;
(2) what are the relevant details with regard to Sentechâs current tariff
structure;
(3) whether Sentechâs tariff structure is being regulated in any way; if

REPLY:
I have been advised by Sentech as follows:-
1) (a) The tariff structure of Sentech is based on what it costs to
provide the service.
(b) Sentechâs tariff takes into consideration the use of shared
(facilities e.g. power, cooling, roads, masts, antennae) and dedicated
infrastructure (transmitters).
2) It is not possible to provide details on Sentechâs current tariff
structure as the information is commercially sensitive.
3) Sentechâs tariff structure is not regulated, as it is not provided for
in the legislation.
