1579 Mr S C Motau (DA) to Ask the Minister of Energy
With regard to the convention of African Energy Commission which was
adopted at the 37th ordinary session of assembly of African Head of
States and Government meeting in Lusaka, Zambia on 11 July 2001:
1. What are the reasons why South Africa signed , but not
ratified the convention
2. Whether South Africa intends ratifying the convention, if
not, why not, if so, what are the details?
Reply
1. The South African Cabinet at its meeting of 21 November
2007 approved the ratification of the African Energy
Convention that was held on 11 July 2001 in Lusaka, Zambia.
